The Perkins County Plainsmen had a rough 2014 PCS tournament, dropping two straight games.
Against Sandhills, PCS lost 50-25.
The Plainsmen were down 11-2 after one period and picked up the pace, outscoring Sandhills 11-10 but the Knights held a 21-13 lead at the half.
Both teams came out running their offense effectively, with the Knights holding a slim 14-10 lead in the quarter, going up 35-23 before the fourth quarter.
Sandhills outscored PCS 15-2 in the fourth quarter.
Christian White led the Plainsmen with eight points, three steals, two rebounds and one block. Derek Sis notched six points with one board and two steals. Tim Johnson led the team in steals with four and had four rebounds, five points and one assist.
Matt Sestak scored four points with two rebounds and Chase Miyamoto scored two points with five rebounds (team high) and had two assists.
PCS vs. Cambridge
In their second match-up of the tournament, PCS faced Cambridge.
The Plainsmen were unable to get into a consistent offensive flow and found themselves dropping the game to Cambridge, 53-31.
PCS was down 19-4 after one period but rallied in the second quarter to outscore the Trojans 14-6 in the second quarter. Cambridge held a 25-18 lead at the half.
The third quarter proved to be the deciding factor for PCS as Cambridge outscored the Plainsmen 19-1 in the quarter. Down 44-19, PCS had a long road to climb. The Plainsmen outscored Cambridge 12-9 in the final quarter but it was not enough to overcome the deficit created in the third quarter.
Derek Sis led PCS with 16 points, two rebounds and two assists while Matt Sestak had four points and one board. Tim Johnson led the team in rebounds with six and had a team high three assists with one steal. Christian White had three boards, two assists and a team high two steals.
