On Tuesday, Jan. 21, the Wallace Lady Wildcats hosted Dundy County-Stratton during regular season play.
Although the Wallace girls had been on a winning streak, the Tigers proved too much to handle and handed the Wildcats a 43-77 loss.
The week wasn’t over, though, and Wallace had the opportunity to redeem themselves as they traveled to Arthur County to face the Wolves on Jan. 23. Wallace finished the night victoriously with a 48-44 win.
Wallace let the game slip away early in as Dundy County-Stratton jumped off to a 20-8 lead on Tuesday night. The girls did not give up and used this game experience to improve their own skills.
Christina Daniels led in scoring for both teams with 23 points. Maggie May earned six points during the game and shot 100 percent from the line. Fellow freshman Madisen Messersmith also made 100 percent of her free throws; she had four points Tuesday night.
Teammates contributing to the overall score were Alex Lundvall- 4, Mickayla Sheets- 4, and Paige Aylward- 2.
Wallace vs. Arthur County
Thursday night proved successful as the Wildcats faced Arthur County for a second time this month, this time on the Wolves’ home court. The home team led through the first quarter, but Wallace slowly came back and finished the first half in the lead, 24-17.
The game remained interesting as Arthur County outscored Wallace in the third quarter, yet remained behind by two.
Wallace hung on for another win, this time on the road as they finished the game ahead by four when the final buzzer sounded. Daniels again led both teams with 25 points and pulled down 10 offensive rebounds. Senior Alex Lundvall also finished in double digits with 11 points and six offensive rebounds. Both Daniels and Lundvall played great defense and earned five steals during regular play. Sara Hubbard and Maggie May shot for four points each while Hayley Storm earned two points and Paige Aylward one.
