January’s Senior of the Month, Alexis Schmidt, has demonstrated an eagerness to succeed during her four years of high school and with her plans for the future.
The daughter of Gretchen Schmidt and Rodney Frese, Alexis is a senior at Perkins County High School in Grant.
She has participated in many extracurricular and scholastic activities throughout high school.
She has been a member of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), speech, science club, Quiz Bowl, FFA, Science Quiz Bowl, journalism, yearbook staff, student council, National Honor Society and the girls golf team.
Outside of school, she has participated in soccer, and has volunteered at the Perkins County Museum, the Hastings Memorial Library Reading Garden, the National Honor Society blood drive, the Grant Lions pancake feed, the youth basketball program and women’s volleyball tournaments.
Her work history includes many hours of babysitting during the summers.
After graduation, Alexis plans to attend UNL as an Air Force ROTC attendant, and attain a degree as a physician, eventually moving into the private sector in the health field.
For being selected Senior of the Month, her picture will be displayed in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant and she will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.
The Student of the Month and scholarship program are sponsored by Pinnacle Bank of Grant and members of the community.
