Walter named Senior of the Month
Tayler Walter of Perkins County High School is watching her senior year approach completion with graduation less than three months away.
Selected as February’s Senior of the Month, Tayler has plans to attend Aims Community College in Greeley, Colo., to complete her general education and then transfer to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley to achieve a Bachelor of Science in education with a minor in special education.
Her goal is to become a high school math teacher.
Tayler has had a busy four years of high school, participating in several extracurricular activities.
She is a member of National Honor Society and a class officer. She has participated in speech and in mock trial all four years of high school.
Tayler has belonged to FFA the past four years and currently holds the office of vice president. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of the high school band, taking part in the flag corps.
Tayler’s sports participation has included volleyball, basketball and track.
She has been a cast member of the school musicals the past four years.
Lettering in academics for three years, Tayler received the honor of Academic All-State in the spring of her junior year.
She has served her community by volunteering at the bloodmobile, taking part in activities through her church, helping with games for the elderly at Westview and Golden Ours, helping at the senior center, coaching league basketball, and serving as a volunteer for the Orphan Grain Train.
Having moved to the area her eighth grade year, Tayler appreciates living in such a caring community and enjoys the opportunity to work with her grandfather as well as spend time with two young nieces.
Tayler is the daughter of Mike and Kristina Walter.
For being selected Senior of the Month, Tayler’s picture will hang in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant and she will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.
