The Lady Plainsmen track team for Perkins County High School will have seven seniors on the squad this season.
A total of 10 letter winners will also be on the squad.
“We have a good number of girls out this season with several of the point leaders returning,” Shayne Hite, said head track coach for PCS. “We have several seniors out and will look to them for leadership.”
With several key spots filled with potential point scoring individuals, Hite is confident the team will have a solid season. “There is some great potential with some of our young tracksters and we are excited to see what they can do,” Hite said.
With an abundance of raw talent, a drawback for the team will be where to put all of that talent.
“We have several individuals in the same events, so we will have to either try some of them in some new events or we will not have anyone in a few events,” Hite said.
With a solid line-up and senior leadership, Hite feels the season comes down to how the younger athletes compete.
“Our team success is gong to depend on how our young athletes develop,” Hite said.
The season starts today (March 27) at the PCS quad before the April 5 Ed Moore Invite in Ogallala.
