Embroidery business re-locates to Grant
Lana and Kyle Kammerer have always been interested in the embroidery business, however, knowing the ins and outs of the software involved was a bit of a hang-up.
Through the help of former owner Crystal Lehl the couple has made their dream come true and has purchased WinDesigns, an embroidery and screen printing business that also sells a full-line of Red Wing/Irish Setter shoes and boots.
WinDesigns was originally in Ogallala and then moved to Brule. When the Kammerers purchased the business they re-located to downtown Grant, at 234 Central Avenue. The business opened at the new location April 23.
“The only expertise I had was when I’d come in and help here from time to time,” Lana Kammerer said. “Telling the machines what to do and learning the software I didn’t really know. She (Lehl) posted online that the business was for sale and I texted her that if I knew the programs and machines better I’d do it. She called me up and the rest is history.”
A third embroidery machine has been purchased and all three have been running steady.
“The machines aren’t quiet much. If they aren’t running it is because they are being worked on, not because it is slow,” Kammerer said.
The business is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or by appointment by calling 1-308-353-WIND (9463).
After the couple ‘have their feet under them’ they plan on having a grand opening.
WinDesigns can embroider just about anything, from coats, towels, vests, hats and shirts to blankets and dufflebags.
The company also works with local companies to do screenprinting.
