Love of outdoors turns into business for Grant family
By Tim Linscott
Aaron LaGrange grew up in Colorado and spent most of his time outdoors.
An avid rock climber, LaGrange hoped to someday pass that knowledge and thrill of the outdoors on to his children.
LaGrange and wife, Amanda, have passed that knowledge on to children Grace, 6, and Finnley, 2, and are also sharing their love of adventure and the outdoors with everyone with the launch of New Life Outdoor Adventures.
The business started in January and features a 25-foot rock climbing wall with five routes.
Rick Cleaver, Amanda’s father, attended the Sedgwick County fair last year and gave Amanda and Aaron the idea to start the side business.
From May to September the family is busy traveling around the region doing fairs and special events. They will be at the Chase County Fair, the Perkins County Fair, the Fourth of July celebration in Grant with more being booked.
Aaron and Amanda have set up the rock wall at the ATV Rally at Lake McConaughy and the Fort Kearney Expo to name a few.
Aaron LaGrange noted that the rock wall will be at Lake Mac during the summer and for specific dates check out New Life Outdoor Adventures Facebook page or their website, www.newlifeoa.com.
The rock wall can be used for parties, family reunions or just about any occasion.
The best feeling the couple gets while running the rock wall is seeing children make it to the top.
“It is fun to see kids climb it and it is such a huge confidence boost and achievement for them. It is so fun to see that,” Amanda LaGrange said.
In the future the couple plans to expand the business and have several ideas they hope to implement soon.
“This is the first step in our family adventure,” Aaron LaGrange said. “We really wanted a business we could do as a family.”
