The webinar, ‘My family member has dementia: What do I do now?’ will be held Monday, June 23 from 1-2 p.m. at the conference room at Perkins County Health Services. The program is open to the public.

The webinar will help attendees better understand how a person with dementia experiences their world as their dementia progresses.
The presenter will also provide tools for providers and family members to improve communication to enhance relationships and improve quality of life for individuals with dementia.
As a result of the presentation, attendees will be able to review the common types of dementia, learn how the brain changes with progressing dementia and how this impacts how the person experiences their world, identify the stages of Alzheimer’s disease and how it impacts a person with dementia and learn communication techniques that will enhance relationships with persons with dementia.
Featured speaker will be Dr. Kim Petersen, who has worked in the field of geriatrics and dementia services for over 30 years, serving as the director of the Memory Diagnostic Center in Madison, Wisc., and as a Certified Medical Director for long-term care and assisted living.
