Soren E. "Sammy" Petersen - April 18, 2010


Soren E. “Sammy” Petersen 87, retired sales/service representative for Radio Supply Company, passed away April 18, 2010.
Services were held Thursday, April 22 at Central Christian Church in Wichita, Kan. Burial was at the Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kan.
Sam is survived by his son, Soren M. “Mike” and Shelby Petersen and two grandsons, Zachary and Peyton of Wichita.
Sammy lived in the Grant, Neb. area and operated a radio repair shop along with Al Sawyer on Central Avenue from 1946-1951 following his return from the Navy.
He graduated from Madrid High School in Madrid, Neb. in 1939. Prior to graduation he lived with and helped his uncles, Mike, Sam and Pete Peterson with their farming operations while his mother tended to his brother who had polio.
His father, Chris, had died when Sam was nine years old.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Lola, and infant daughters, Victoria and Virginia; his parents, Chris and Mattie Petersen and his brother, Jens.
