Colleen Benge - June 12, 2010

Colleen Benge was born on August 20, 1952 at Imperial, Neb. She was the second of four children born to Kermit and Maxine Todd Fosbinder.
Colleen grew up on the family farm in Perkins County southwest of Elsie, Neb. She attended elementary school in Elsie and high school in Wallace, Neb., where she graduated with the class of 1970. She then attended St. Joseph Beauty Academy in North Platte, Neb.
Colleen was married to Don Benge on May 20, 1973 at the Congregational Church in Grant, Neb. She lived her entire married life in Grant, where they raised their three children.
She worked outside the home at Heritage Insurance and at the Tribune-Sentinel for the last nine years before her health forced her retirement.
She had been diagnosed with a malignancy in August 2009 and had been in declining health when she died Saturday morning, June 12, 2010 with her family by her bedside. She had reached the age of 57.
Colleen is survived by her husband Don; one daughter Angela and husband Elliott Peterson of rural Grant; two sons, Jeffrey and wife Marci of Casa Grande, Ariz. and Ryan and wife Jennifer of Ogallala, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Storm and Jet Peterson; Halle, Lily, Lacey, Symon and Olivia Benge; her parents Kermit and Maxine Fosbinder of Grant; one sister, Barbara Trusty of Lincoln; two brothers, Dan and wife Jennifer of Dickens, Neb. and Scott and wife Katie of Madrid, Neb.; her mother-in-law Fern Benge of Grant; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 15 at the Grant First Congregational Church with Pastor Larry Booth officiating.
Burial was in the Grant Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
