D. Leona Barner - July 21, 2010


D. Leona Barner, age 79, passed away surrounded by her family, July 21, 2010 at her home near Stapleton, Neb.
Leona was born June 13, 1931 to Leo Douglas and Mable Quinn (Allen) Cash near Ringgold, Neb.
On June 23, 1948 she married the love of her life, Glen D. “Red” Barner in North Platte, Neb. They resided on a farm near Stapleton in the house Red built for her early in their marriage.
Leona enjoyed raising their six children, being involved in 4-H, bowling and yard work. She was secretary and timer of the Logan County Rodeo for several years.
She is survived by her husband, Red of Stapleton; children, Joleen and husband Kenny Blake of Maxwell, Neb., Don and wife Joan Barner of Wallace, Neb., Glenda and husband Jack Krebs of North Platte, Teresa and husband Steve Facka of Dickens, Neb., Kyle and wife Veda Barner of Big Sky, Mont., and Trent and wife Marissa Barner of Fremont, Neb.; 12 grandchildren, Stacy and husband Dan Iske of Sutherland, Neb., Shane Mathers of Anappolis, Md., Justin Krebs of Cheyenne, Wyo., Deonna and husband Josh Phelps of Denver, Allyson and husband Mark Dennis of Maxwell, Casey and wife Deavon Blake of North Platte, Malery Mathers of North Platte, J.D. Barner of Wallace, Koby Krebs of North Platte, Tad Mathers of North Platte, Andy Barner of Lincoln, Neb. and Taylor Barner of Fremont; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey and husband Al Coleman of North Platte and Evelyn Brown of Grand Island, Neb.; and a brother, Larry and wife Charlene Cash of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; and her mother and father-in-law.

Graveside services were July 24, 2010 at the Loup Valley Cemetery near Stapleton with Pastor Bob Anderson officiating.
Adams and Swanson Funeral Home of North Platte was in charge of arrangements.
