Donald Charles Mickels - November 08, 2010


Donald Charles Mickels, 79, a retired farmer, died Nov. 8, 2010 at his home in Hesston, Kan.
Don was born at home Jan. 24, 1931 to Ray J. and Nettie Mickels in Madrid, Neb. On March 25, 1951 he married Jackie Wiebe.
Don was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Ray Gene Mickels.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie and daughters Bonnie Mickels of Hesston, Kim and husband Dave Kroeker of Hillsboro, Kan.; Penni and husband Steve Schroeder of Hillsboro and Leslie and husband Tim Brown of Kearney Neb.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at Schowalter Villa in Hesston on Nov. 10 with Chaplain Wendi Miller officiating, and Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro on Nov. 12 with Pastors Steve Schroeder and Roy Keller officiating.
On Nov. 13, the burial took place in the Madrid Cemetery followed by a memorial service in the Madrid United Methodist Church led by Pastor Steve Schroeder with John Long assisting.
