Bruce Sidney Holcombe - December 16, 2010
Bruce Sidney Holcombe was born March 26, 1941 in Ovid, Colo., the son of Sidney and Erma (Ziemann) Holcombe. He died Dec. 16, 2010.
He and his parents moved to the farm in southeast Sedgwick County, Neb., when he was a year old.
Bruce graduated from Venango High School in Venango, Neb., in 1959, after which he joined the family farm, taking great pride in his work.
As a young adult, Bruce attended Big Springs United Methodist Church in Big Springs, Neb. He taught Sunday School there for many years. Later he joined Big Springs Assembly of God. His gifts of time to the Lord and stewardship were important to him.
Bruce enjoyed many diverse activities including playing and coaching softball, bowling, fishing, traveling, and attending Colorado sports games.
He married Gaye Vogt on June 24, 2000. This union brought three daughters, two sons, two sons-in-laws, nine grandchildren and one great-grandson to the family.
In 2003 he was reunited with his daughter who was given up for adoption at birth. This brought another daughter, son-in-law, and two more grandsons into his family.
Survivors include his wife Gaye; daughters Sharla and husband Robin Durrett of Great Bend, Kan.; Jamie and husband Chad Marin of Strasburg, Colo.; Tina and husband Doug Rosenthal of Surprise, Ariz.; son Jeremy Schroder of Surprise, Ariz.; Tyler Johnston of North Platte, Neb.; Ashley Johnston of Julesburg, Colo.; sister Kay and husband Jim Hick of Centennial, Colo.; grandchildren Johnathon, Jacob, Bret, McKenzie, Lauren, Kelsey, Tanner, Baylee, Stormi, Haley and Dallas; great-gandosn, Kenyon; father and mother-in-law Clifford and Louis Vogt of Big Springs, Neb.; brothers-in-law Michael Vogt of Bailey, Colo.; Tom Vogt and wife Joyce of Chappell, Neb., nieces, nephew and and other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, and beloved aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at the Big Springs Assembly of God Church with Pastor Chris Wadle officiating.
Burial was in the Big Springs Cemetery.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant was in charge of arrangements.
