Hazel Musick - February 26, 2011

Hazel Musick was born on March 18, 1930 at Edison, Neb. She was the youngest of seven children born to John and Stella Mishler Fisher. The family moved to Grant, Neb. where Hazel attended Perkins County High School through her junior year.
Hazel was married to Earnest Musick on Feb. 12, 1953 in Grant. They made their first home south of Grant in Chase County where Earnest was involved in farming. In 1969 the family moved to their present home north of Grant.
Hazel trained under Alberta Colglazier for nursing care, a trait that she would use well in later years. She worked as a telephone operator and as a waitress for the Grant Steak House. After the steak house burned down in the mid 1970s, Hazel began working at the Perkins County Community Hospital. She served as a nurse’s aide from 1978 until she retired in 2005.
Hazel stayed active after retirement and died peacefully at her home on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011. She had reached the age of 80.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and her husband, Ernie, who died in 1995.
She is survived by two sons, William and wife Laura of Ogallala, Neb. and Randall and wife Angela of Grant; one daughter, Rhonda and husband John Kogl of Holdrege, Neb.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday March 2, 2011 at the Imperial Mount Hope Cemetery with John Long officiating.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
