Lester Arvene Thayer - May 04, 2011

Lester A. Thayer, age 78, of Dickens, Neb., passed away April 5, 2011 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, Neb.
He was born Jan. 19, 1933 west of Maywood, Neb. to Ora James and Bernice Lucille Murray Thayer. He graduated from Curtis School of Agriculture in 1951.
Lester married Vivian Thompson in 1954. After the marriage he worked for Kellogg Grain Company in Wallace, Neb. for a couple years. Lester farmed and ranched his entire life in the Wallace and Dickens area.
In his later years he worked at Southwest Feeders at Hayes Center, Neb. and North Platte Feeders south of North Platte, Neb. Lester loved dancing. He also enjoyed fishing and social events with his friends. His pride and joy were his kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his children, Carolyn and husband Derwyn Brown of North Platte, Linda Thayer of Chadron, Neb. and Rod and wife Brenda Thayer of Imperial, Neb.; grandchildren, Ryan and Tucker Brown, Sally and husband Doug Smith, Chance and wife Chandra Thayer; special friends, Katherine Manning and her family, and Egon and Ursula Sommer; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian; infant son, James Lee Thayer; sister, Eva Isaacs; brother, Ted Thayer; and two infant brothers, Leslie and Wesley Thayer.
Services were held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Wallace Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Fuller officiating.
Burial followed at the Morning View Cemetery in Wallace.
