Gloria Ann Lawson - April 26, 2011
Gloria Ann Lawson passed from this life on April 26, 2011 in Colby, Kan. She was 68 years old.
She was born Feb. 17, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to Floyd and Lavona Bard Nelson. Gloria grew up in Palisade, Neb. and graduated from Palisade High School. After graduation she attended Parks School of Business in Denver. Upon completion of her courses, Gloria worked for Martin-Marietta.
On June 10, 1962, she was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” William Lawson. Three children blessed this union, Ray, Christy and John. Most of the time Gloria was a stay-at-home mom, whose main interest was to see the growth and development of her children.
They moved to Maywood, Neb. in the fall of 1963 Gloria worked temporarily as Maywood village clerk and at the Maywood Co-op. She was employed at Ace Hardware in North Platte, Neb., for 20 years.
Gloria was a member of the Maywood United Methodist Church. For many years she served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and as a member of the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her three children, Raymond and wife Pamela Lawson of Hampton, Neb., Christine and husband Martin Gugelman of Cody, Kan., and John and wife Shannon of Hampton; sister, Karen and husband Dick Thurin of Grant, Neb.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were April 29, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Maywood with Pastor Stan LaRue officiating.
Burial was in the Palisade Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
