David Ensz - May 07, 2011


David Ensz was born on Nov. 8, 1926 in McPherson County, Kan. He was the sixth of nine children born to Isaac and Elizabeth Toews Ensz.
He grew up in McPherson County and was married to Juanita Sanchez on April 22, 1951 in Inman, Kan. They made their home in Inman and in 1973 they were one of the first Mennonite families to purchase ground in southwest Nebraska.
They moved to their farm southwest of Paxton, Neb. in 1974 where David lived the rest of his life. Juanita died in January of 2010 and even though David had suffered a heart condition for nearly two years, he continued to maintain his home until he died Saturday night, May 7, 2011. He had reached the age of 84.
In addition to his parents and his wife, David was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by three sons, Kenneth and wife Alice of Paxton, Carlos and wife Judy of Bruneau, Idaho, and Randy and wife Terry of rural Ogallala, Neb.; three daughters, Virginia and husband Tim Unruh and Cynthia and husband Barry Baerg, all of rural Paxton, and Nadine and husband David Hiebert of Rosenort, Manitoba; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four sisters- Margaret Reimer of Mound Ridge, Kan., Viola Hiebert of Jamesport, Mo., Mildred Friesen of Madrid, Neb. and Gladys and husband Henry Koehn of Okolona, Miss.; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held May 10, 2011 at the Golden Plains Mennonite Church at Madrid with Shawn Becker and Rod Frank officiating.
Burial was in the Madrid Cemetery.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
