Joyce Batty - June 05, 2011
Joyce Batty was born on Jan. 13, 1946 at Imperial, Neb. She was the oldest of two children born to Lloyd and Fern Browning. She grew up in Imperial and moved with her family to Colorado Springs where she graduated from high school.
She met Paul Batty of Kennewick, Wash., who was in the service and stationed in Colorado Springs. They were married on July 31, 1964 in Colorado Springs. They moved to Washington in 1971 and to Madrid, Neb. in 1977. They moved to Grant, Neb. in 1980 and to their farm home near Venango, Neb. in 1991.
Joyce had been in failing health and had been transferred to the Perkins County Community Hospital where she died on Sunday night, June 5, 2011. She had reached the age of 65.
Joyce was an excellent seamstress and loved to sew and quilt. Her first joy was always spending time with her family and making sure that they were put first. Spending time with her grandchildren was a priority and she spent several hours making things together with them. She also enjoyed her dog, Candy.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Paul of rural Venango; two sons, Terry and his wife Cindy Batty of Lawton Okla. and Denny and his partner Lori Hanson of Sutherland, Neb., two daughters, Melanie Bevard and her partner Jeff Altig of Lexington, Neb. and Christie and her husband Scott Latzer of Sanger, Texas; eight grandchildren, Britany, Taylor, Dallas, Jose, Alicia, Dalton, Ashley, and Mary; her brother, Alvin and his wife Jeanie Browning of Falcon, Colo.; other relatives and friends.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 8 at the Venango Community Church with Pastor Chris Costrini officiating.
Scattering of cremains will occur at a later date.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
