Gladys Jackson - June 11, 2011
Gladys Jackson, 92, formerly of the Elsie and Wallace, Neb. communities died Saturday evening at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, Neb.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1918 in the Turkey Creek area south of Smithfield, Neb. She was the youngest of three children born to Albert and Mable Stark Lockhart. Gladys attended country school through the eighth grade.
Gladys was married to Harold Biesecker on Aug. 13, 1939 in Norton, Kan. They later moved to a farm north of Elsie in 1941 and later into Elsie.
Gladys worked for Stransky’s grocery store and cleaned houses. Harold died in 1985 and Gladys married Charles Jackson in 1991 and they enjoyed eight years together before his death in 1999. Gladys moved to Wallace and then to Golden Ours in 2009.
She is survived by one daughter, Janette and her husband Dave Earl of Cozad, Neb.; two sons, Harold Jr. and his wife Nancy Biesecker of Clearwater, Fla. and Larry and his wife Deb Biesecker of Elsie; one stepson, Jerry and his wife Dee Jackson of rural Grainton, Neb.; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gladys Jackson were held Wednesday, June 15 at the Elsie United Methodist Church with Pastors Linda Batello and Mary Fuller officiating.
Burial was in Elwood Cemetery in Elwood, Neb.
A memorial has been established.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
