Wayne Wilson - July 13, 2011


Wayne Wilson was born July 8, 1948, in Denver, to Wesley and Mildred Wilson. He was raised in Grant, Neb. and moved to Norfolk, Neb. in 1980. He graduated in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State College (UNC) in Greeley, Colo.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970. He served in Vietnam as a Specialist 5th Class. He was an artillery fire direction coordinator and received many medals for his service. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
Wayne moved to Loveland, Colo., and worked construction jobs including the building of the Loveland Alco Store. In 1972, he began his 40-year-career with Alco Stores.
He married Nancy Krogmeier on Aug. 9, 1975, in Loveland. They moved to Norfolk in 1980. He loved restoring old cars, fishing, traveling to Mexico, golfing and was a huge Big Red Nebraska football fan. Wayne and Nancy were avid card players with special friends for over 20 years.
Wayne died peacefully in his sleep on July 13, 1011, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. He had reached the age of 63.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Nancy of 36 years; daughters, Kimberly Wilson and Kristen and husband Brock Boettcher; sisters, Donna and husband Bill Bullard of Fort Collins, Colo., and De Hubbard of Denver. Many relatives and friends will remember Wayne in special ways.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, brother, Jim, and father-in-law, Eugene Krogmeier.
At his request no memorial services were conducted.
