Kenneth Lee - August 27, 2011


Kenneth Lee was born on April 27, 1921 southeast of Madrid, Neb. He was the second of six children born to Dewey and Lillie Kerchner Lee. Kenny attended country school and later went into Madrid where he graduated from Madrid High School in 1939.
Kenny was married to Eris Beck on Dec. 31, 1941 in Elsie, Neb. They farmed their entire married life and lived in Nebraska and later Otis, Colo. for 15 years. They moved to a farm northwest of Grant, Neb. in 1967 and to their farm home east of Grant in 1973 where he lived until April of this year when he moved to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home. He had been transferred to the Perkins County Community Hospital last week where he died on Saturday evening, Aug. 27, 2011. He had reached the age of 90.
Kenny was a member of the Grant Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Evelyn; three brothers, Dale, Harold, and Bernard.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Eris; two sons, Dennis and wife Janet of Colorado Springs and Leon of Grant; nine daughters, Myrna and husband Coley Powell of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Charlotte and husband Walt Arnold of Lake Wales, Fla., Cheryl and husband Bob Nollett of Ogallala, Neb., Karen and husband Steve Aten of Hays, Kan., Martha Granados and Kathy Lee, both of Omaha, Cindy Schneider of Enid, Okla., Lynnette and husband Mark Mickelson of Shawnee, Okla. and Tammy husband Bill Reznicek of Bentonville, Ark.; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, Theron; other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on Monday, Aug. 29 at the Grant Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the Mother of Sorrows Church with Father Mark Pfeiffer officiating.
Burial was in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
