Shirley Lingbloom - September 01, 2011
Shirley Lingbloom was born on July 19, 1939 at North Platte, Neb. She was the second of three children born to William and Margaret Nelson Barry. Shirley grew up near Paxton, Neb. and attended school in Paxton where she graduated in 1957.
Shirley was married to Robert Lingbloom in 1957 and they lived on their farm north of Elsie, Neb. where they raised their three children.
Shirley worked for a brief time for Elsie Co-op and later in Grant, Neb. for Midwest Electric and the hospital. She began her career with N.P.P.D. based in Sutherland and retired from the company after 30 years of service.
In 1993, Robert and Shirley moved to North Platte, Neb. Robert died in 2001 and Shirley moved to Ogallala, Neb. in 2007. Shirley had been failing in health and was transferred to the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. the last week of August where she died on Thursday morning, Sept.1, 2011. She had reached the age of 72.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by an infant brother, Edward.
She is survived by two sons, Tom and wife Trudy Lingbloom of Maple Grove, Minn. and Jim and wife Kim Lingbloom of Julesburg, Colo.; one daughter, Elaine and husband John Steele of Phoenix, Ariz,; five grandchildren- Shayne Steele, Tony, Shelby, Tish and Jill Lingbloom; her sister, Catherine and husband Rex Bridgman of Ord, Neb.; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant with John Long officiating.
Burial of cremains was in the Elsie Cemetery.
