Doris Edna Freeman - October 26, 2011


Doris Edna (Logsdon) Freeman was born Oct. 27, 1919, in Burchard, Pawnee County, Neb., to James R. and Eliza E. (Cox) Logsdon. Doris was the youngest child in a family of five; one sister and three brothers.
Doris attended country schools and graduated in 1938 from the Perkins County High School in Grant, Neb. On Feb. 25, 1940, she was united in marriage to Walter C. Freeman at the Lutheran Parsonage in Grant. Doris was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Pekin, Ill. in 1941. To this union were born three sons: Gary, Bruce and Lyndle. In addition to their three sons, Walter and Doris were blessed with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Doris was a homemaker until they moved to Littleton, Colo., where she helped her husband in their propane business for over 20 years.
For over 36 years she was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Littleton where she was active in the Ladies Guild. Doris moved to Chappell, Neb. to their home east of town in 1996. She kept in membership at Ascension while attending Grace Lutheran Church faithfully in Chappell.
She lived a full and active life until her death in Alamogordo, N.M. on Oct. 26, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; sister, Zelma Hall and brothers Robert, Wayne, and Cecil Logsdon; and a grandson, Todd Freeman.
She is survived by her sons, Gary and wife Linda of Chappell, Bruce and wife Barbara of Alamogordo. and Lyndle and wife Sarah of Littleton; grandchildren Troy and wife Trish Freeman of Aurora, Colo., Aaron and wife Michelle Freeman of Anchorage, Alaska, Matthew and wife Jill Freeman of Omaha, Christian and wife Summer Freeman of Cicero, N.Y., Briana and husband John Kacinski of Englewood, Colo., Beth and husband Rich Kempel of Englewood and Kara and husband Tim McElheny of High Rolls, N.M; along with six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate her life was be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Chappell on Nov. 9, 2011.
