Don Apolius - March 07, 2012

Don Apolius, 51, of Ogallala, Neb. died March 7, 2012 in his home.
Donald Robert Apolius was born Sept. 3, 1960 in Ogallala, the son of Emil and Rita (Snyder) Apolius. He attended rural school District 22 and Ogallala Public Schools, graduating from Ogallala High School in 1978.
On Jan. 16, 1982 Don married Shiela Marie Dunn at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the family farm. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church south of Ogallala. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. Don especially enjoyed gambling trips to Deadwood, S. D. and watching The Price is Right.
Preceding him in death was his father Emil Apolius in 1982.
Survivors include his wife Shiela Apolius and son Jamie Apolius, both of Ogallala; son Josh and wife Megan Apolius of Grant, Neb.; mother Rita Apolius of Ogallala; father-in-law and mother-in-law Melvin and Carol Dunn, of Ogallala; one brother Bobby and wife Sue Apolius of Keystone, Neb.; two sisters-in-law Beth and husband Lonne Hansmeier and Laura and husband Luis Rivas, all of Ogallala; brother-in-law Melvin and wife Barb Dunn of St. Francis, Kan.; grandfather Herb Davison of Ogallala; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family chose cremation. There were no services. A celebration of his life and gathering of friends was held at the Hill Top Inn at Lake McConaughy on March 10.
