Katelyn "Katie" Rowley - December 31, 1969

Katelyn “Katie” Rowley was born on Dec. 6, 1994 at Grant, Neb. She was the oldest of two children born to Tim and Pam Fowler Rowley. Katie attended school at the Perkins County Christian School in Grant until high school. She was presently a junior at Perkins County High School.
Katie was active in high school, community and her church.
She participated in volleyball, track, served as boys basketball student manager, FFA officer the past two years, one act play, school musicals, an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.
She volunteered at the Hastings Memorial Library and was presently involved in the work study program with the Perkins County Schools pre-school program.
Katie trusted in Jesus as her Savior at a young age. She was baptized at age 15. She was involved with AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed), Youth Challenge Bible Quizzing, mission trips to Jamaica, church worship music team, and volunteered for her church’s nursery.
Katie loved to travel and enjoyed summer family vacations. She had a special relationship with Dr. Chris and Michelle Hall family of Beatrice. She was a vibrant young lady who loved children and loved Jesus.
Katie was returning to Grant late Friday night, March 16, 2012, when the car she was riding in ran off county road 760 one-fourth mile west of Grant. She was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. She was 17 years old.
Katie is survived by her parents, Tim and Pam Rowley; her brother, Sam; grandparents, David and Gloria Fowler of Ogallala, Neb., Ruth and Zim Olson of Denver, and Marles Rowley of Grove, Okla.; great-grandmothers, Mary Ruth Fowler of Ogallala and Beulah Purdy of Wauneta, Neb.; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held March 20, 2012 at the Grant Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Russ Gaar officiating.
Burial was in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
