Anita Louise Hutcheson - April 04, 2012


Anita Hutcheson was born Jan. 8, 1952 in Cassville, Mo. She was the only child of Lyle and Ruth (Sronce) Papka. Anita grew up in the Eagle Rock, Mo. community where she had many dear friends.
The summer before her junior year of high school she moved to Perkins County where her mother’s family lived. After high school she attended North Platte Beauty Academy. Anita Papka married Tom Hutcheson on Dec. 11, 1971 at the Elsie United Methodist Church in Elsie, Neb. Anita and Tom lived on a farm south of Elsie from 1975 to 1985 when they sold it and moved to Elsie.
After moving to town Anita delivered senior meals to Elsie three days a week for 10 years. She also served on the Perkins County Senior Center board as a member or president for several years. Anita started driving the Perkins County public transit bus in 2004 and enjoyed doing this until November of 2011. She loved being a part of the community and taking care of her extended family.
Anita began her battle against melanoma in 2004.She had many surgeries to remove small tumors. In December of 2011 she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law after her cancer had spread. She received treatment from the doctors at University of Colorado Hospital. After a valiant fight she returned home to Perkins County on April 4, 2012 and passed away on April 9, 2012 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant, Neb.
She was a member of the Elsie United Methodist Church, served on the Elsie Cemetery Board and was a member of the Elsie Community Club. She enjoyed watching her children grow up and following their activities. She also had a special relationship with her grandson, Tomarcus, as he spent much of his time with Tom and Anita. Anita also treasured the time she spent with her young grandson, Kaleb.
Anita is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her son, Justin, of Elsie and fiancée, Tammy Hastings; daughter, LeAnn and husband Kory Benz of Auroro, Colo.; grandsons, Tomarcus and Kaleb; two brothers-in-law, Jim and wife Louise Hutcheson of Gordon, Neb. and Bill and wife Sherri Hutcheson of McPherson, Kan.; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Elsie United Methodist Church with Pastors Linda Battello and John Hutcheson officiating.
Burial will be at the Elsie Cemetery.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
