Rev. David D. Block - May 19, 2012

Rev. David D. Block, 91, died Saturday, May 19, 2012 at his home in Hesston, Kan. He was born May 13, 1921 to David C. and Sarah Heinrichs Block in Henderson, Neb.
He married Sara Martens on Dec. 19, 1941 in Dallas, Ore. She preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
He was a member of the Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church. He served in the Navy during WWII. He devoted his life to the ministry, serving as pastor in South Shafter, Calif., Balko, Okla., Newton, Kan., Grant, Neb., and Congerville, Ill.
Survivors include: daughter, Jacqueline Albright of Lubbock, Texas, son Jeffrey “Jeff” A. and wife Carol Block wife of Norman, Okla., brother Abe Block of Spring Park, Minn., four grandchildren, Tucker and wife Bertha Albright of Booker, Texas, Nicol Paul of Lubbock, Jeff and wife Shanna Person Block Jr., of Moore, Okla., Katie Block of Norman, and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Monday, May 28, at the Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church in Hesston.
Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, or Mennonite Brethren Missions, or the Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 107 S. Lancaster P.O. Box 32, Hesston, KS 67062.
Miller-Ott Funeral Home of Hesston was in charge of arrangements.
