Lois Jennings - August 25, 2012


Lois Jennings was born on Nov. 12, 1916 in Butler County, Neb. She was the youngest of three children born to Arthur and Abigail Stafford From. In 1921 the family moved to Venango, Neb. and in 1924 they moved to their farm southwest of town.
Lois attended country school at the Highline School through the sixth grade. She and her brother then moved to Rising City, Neb. where they lived with their grandmother. Lois graduated from Rising City High Scool in 1934. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and the Grand Island School of Business, majoring in bookkeeping.
Lois was married to Robert Jennings on Nov. 12, 1937 in Kearney. They moved to Laramie, Wyo. where she worked as a bookkeeper for the auto shop where Robert worked as a mechanic.
In 1942, when World War II started, they moved to San Diego and worked on B-24 airplanes at Consolidated Aircraft. After the war ended in 1946 they moved to Longmont, Colo. where they started RoLo Auto Clinic. They retired in 1976 and moved to Venango to help care for Lois’ mother.
Robert died in 1993 and Lois made her home in Venango and Grant, Neb. She had been living at Park Ridge Assisted Living in Grant and had been moved to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home on Friday, Aug. 24. She died at Golden Ours early Saturday morning, Aug. 25, 2012. She was 95 years old.
Lois joined the Methodist Church in 1932 and was very active in the WSCS and later the UMW, holding many offices including District and Colorado Conference Secretary of Program Resources. Lois also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, extension clubs, and was a past president of the Perkins County Senior Center in Grant.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by her two brothers- Merle and Clarence From; two daughters-in-law, Dorothy and Barbara Jennings, and one grandson, Scott Jennings.
She is survived by three sons- Stanley and his wife Janet Jennings of Kearns, Utah, Donald and his wife Nichapat “Jenny” Jennings of Lakewood, Calif.and David and his wife Linda Jennings of Longmont; her daughter, Linda and her husband David Hussan of Thonrton, Colo.; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Aug. 27, 2012 at the Grant United Methodist Church with Pastor Nora Mendyk officiating.
Burial was in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
