Ruby Kraft - October 03, 2012


Ruby Kraft was born on Dec. 26, 1936 at Wymore, Neb. She was the youngest of four children born to Francis and Elta Van Laningham Orton. As a young girl the family moved to Wallace, Neb. Ruby attended Wallace Schools and graduated in 1954. She helped her parents on the farm and later worked for Goodall Electric in Ogallala, Neb.
Ruby was married to Phil Kraft on Aug. 3, 1954 at Julesburg, Colo. They made their home in Wallace and Ruby eventually drove a school bus for Wallace schools and later served as the food manager for the hot lunch program.
She continued to live in Wallace after Phil died in 1995. Her health had been failing for the past couple of years. She had been admitted to the Perkins County Community Hospital in Grant, Neb. in September and her daughter had moved her to her home in North Platte, Neb. where she died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 3, 2012. She had reached the age of 75.
Ruby had been a member of the Wallace American Legion Auxilary, the Rebekah Lodge, and the Wallace United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly, who died at birth; one brother, Jim, and one sister, Evelyn.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Denise White of North Platte; son, Marc Kraft of Missouri, and adopted son, Wes Kraft of North Platte; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Kelly, Kip, Chris, Sarah, Heather, Wes, and Josh; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Patty Bodeman; her family from Phil’s side, mother-in-law, Lucille Kraft; sisters-in-law, Myra Kraft, Leona Halbert, Vee Griffiths, and Florence Kosmacek; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held on Oct. 6, 2012 at the Wallace Morningview Cemetery with John Long officiating.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
