Betty Eastin - October 18, 2012
Betty A. Eastin 78, of Clay Center, Neb. was born to Ernest and Florence (Nomer) Colson on Jan. 22, 1934 at Sutherland, Neb. She died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
She married Clifton Eastin on Dec. 30, 1951 and to this union six children were born.
She was employed as assistant manager and then as manager of the Crowleys Clothing Store at the Imperial Mall in Hastings, Neb. for three years, then served as marketing director at the Imperial Mall for 18 years. She has served on the Salvation Army Board of Directors, Head Start Policy Council, was a Symphony Guild member, Women’s Barbershop (Sweet Adelines) group, Special Childrens Fund Board, Hastings Business and Professional Women member, served as choir director for churches in Madrid, Ogallala, Sutherland, Harvard, Hastings, and Clay Center in Nebraska.
She was currently a member of the Clay Center United Church of Christ, Clay Center Super Senior Center, Nebraska Original Betty Club, D.A.R., Prairieland Food Program and the Clay County Food Pantry. She loved fishing, music, reading, and her friends, but her pride and joy was her family.
She is survived by her husband, Clifton; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Laurie Eastin of Ankeny, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Craig Ingram of Olathe, Kan.; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Linda Eastin of Salina, Kan.; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Joe Mack of Lincoln, Neb.; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Eastin of Ankeny; and daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Scott Miller of Clay Center; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannie and George Davis of Norway, S.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Jim Smith of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Nikki Colson of Elsie, Neb.; grandchildren, Richard and Amy, Joshua and Kim, Jacob, Amanda, Sara and Steve, Heather and Nickholi, Ryan, Brandon, Sean, Taylor, Austin, Mikayla, Nicole, Cale, Joel, Adam and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Michael, Julia, Grace, Bailey, Gabriel and Kaleb; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Oct. 23, 2012, at the United Church of Christ in Clay Center with Rev. Cathyann Colson officiating.
Interment was in the Clay Center Cemetery in Clay Center.
