Eugene Henry Krumm - December 26, 2012
Eugene Henry Krumm, born to Henry and Marie Krumm on Jan. 13, 1943 went to be with our Lord and Savior on Dec. 26, 2012.
Gene was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He grew up on a farm three miles north of Ovid, Colo. and graduated from Ovid High School in 1961. From the time he was a young man he loved farming and began to farm after his high school graduation.
It was a short time later he met the love of his life Dorthy Grasz during sugar beet harvest in the fall of 1965. They married Sept. 4, 1966 and to this union two children were born, Kimberly Ann and Jeffrey Todd.
Eugene, who became known as “Tiny” to his friends and neighbors, farmed in Ovid, Chappell, Champion, Venango and Palisade, Neb. along with Elkhart, Kan. He retired from farming in 2000 and worked for Central Sand and Gravel until he fully retired in 2007. After retirement he continued to farm part time in the spring and fall for his good friend Joe Shank. His greatest enjoyment was buying tractors and machinery for his grandchildren Easton and Alex.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marie Krumm, brother, Kenneth, nephews, Philip and Paul Krumm, mother and father-in-law Benjamin and Theda Grasz, brother-in-law Arthur, sisters-in-law Edna Quarter, Clara Dickensen, brother-in-law Clarence, infant brother-in-law Leroy, brother-in-law Harvey, sister-in-law Rita Powell and brother-in-law Jess.
He is survived by his wife Dorthy of Ovid; daughter Kimberly of Cheyenne, Wyo.; son Jeffrey and wife Becky; grandsons Easton and Alex of Cambridge, Wis.; sister Judy Powell and husband Ted of Southlake, Texas; brother Gary and wife Carol of Holyoke, Colo.; brother-in-law Albert of North Platte, Neb., sister-in-law Helen Powell and husband Dee of Arvada, Colo., brother-in-law Wayne Powell of Brighton, Colo., sister-in-law Vera Bottrell and husband Wayne of Kings Beach, Calif., brother-in-law Victor of North Platte, sister-in-law Beth Cheleen and husband Darold of Chappell, Neb.
There was a memorial service on Dec. 29, 2012 at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke with Pastor Gary Rahe officiating.
Baucke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
