John Silvrants - December 31, 1969
John Silvrants was born on May 8, 1972 at Grant, Neb. He was the oldest of two children born to Roger and Carol Simeon Silvrants. His father, Roger, married Charlotte Jay when John was 10. John received his education in Grant, graduating from Grant High School in 1990.
John enlisted in the United States Marine Corp after graduating and served in Japan security forces until 1993. After his honorable discharge he returned to Nebraska and attended McCook Communtiy College in McCook, Neb. He received an associates degree in computer science and continued to work for the college until 1998.
John was married to Shylin Parks on Aug. 20, 1999 at Battle Creek, Mich. They lived in different places but had been living in Colorado City, Colo. He was employed by Newsom Trucking based in Pueblo, Colo. and drove across many states.
He was involved in a single truck vehicle accident Saturday afternoon east of Pueblo, Jan. 12, 2013. He was kept alive by life support and donated his organs after his death on Monday night, Jan. 14. He had reached the age of 40.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Gladys and Oliver Silvrants, Clare and Jim Simeon, and Flo Jay; aunt Lenora Lashley and his uncle, Phillip Jay, who inspired him as a young boy to become an organ donor.
He is survived by his wife, Shylin; father and step-mother, Roger and Charlotte Silvrants; his mother, Carol Simeon; sister, Danika and husband Randy Sobotka; two step-sisters, Valerie and husband Walter Harrington and Amber and husband Justin Barnett; step-brother, Buril and wife Joan Hardin; aunts, uncles and other relatives. John had a special place in his heart for Shylin’s two grandchildren, Braydon Nazimek and Cassanova Rodanhisler.
After the organ donation, cremation was chosen.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the Grant Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Russ Gaar officiating.
A memorial has been established.
