Pauline Decker - December 31, 1969

Pauline Hattie Decker, 88, of Beatrice, Neb. died at the Beatrice Community Hospital on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. She was born June 6, 1924 on a farm near Pickrell, Neb. She was baptized by J. P. Reents at Zion Lutheran Church in Pickrell on June 10, 1924 and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in DeWitt, Neb.
She attended school in Pickrell and graduated in 1942 from Beatrice High School. After working in a shell factory at Dempsters, she moved to Greeley, Colo. where she worked at the Union Pacific Depot.
On Aug 19, 1944, she married Rolland D. Decker by Pastor Edwin Fitchel, in Greeley. In 1948, they moved back to Beatrice where she was active in volunteer work at school, church council, Tabitha circle, community pantry and the hospital guild. She worked at Hoover Universal for 25 years in accounting. She loved her church, her family and friends, arts and crafts, dancing, bowling, golf, bridge and crossword puzzles. She was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Paulette is survived by daughters, Sandi Decker of Santa Fe, N.M, Kris and husband John Long of Grant Neb.; five grandchildren, Lisa and Ryan Goetowski, and JJ, Andrew and Benjamin Long; 10 ten great-grandchildren, Callahan and Ellery Charleton, Collin and Lindsey Goetowski, Miah, William, and Ryan Long, Quincy and Brooks Long, Magnus Long; sister, Beth and husband Eli Hatter of Sabetha, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Elizabeth Zimmerman Baehr; her husband, Rolland Decker; three sisters, Hanna Krauter, Bertha Siems, Recka Siefkes;brother, Henry Baehr; three brothers-in-law, John Siefkes, Lorenz Siems and Grant Krauter; sister-in-law, Irma Baehr; five nephews, Marvin, Ronnie and Dale Siefkes, David Krauter and Gary Baehr.
Funeral services were held Jan. 19, 2013 at the St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Glenn Schacht and Pastor William Jurgens officiating.
Burial was Jan. 21 in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to St. John Lutheran Church.
