Ben Berges - April 03, 2009

Ben F. Berges, beloved husband and father, age 82 of Aurora, Colo., and former Sidney, Neb., resident, passed away Friday evening, April 3, 2009 at his home in Aurora.
Ben, the son of Fredrich August and Rosa Caroline (Busch) Berges, was born on Aug. 31, 1926 at Venango, Neb. On July 6, 1944 he was united in marriage to Darlene May Driefholt in Perkins County, Neb.
Ben was a World War II Veteran, entering civil service at Sioux Army Depot in Sidney, in 1947 and later became an ammunition inspector. He had tours in Korea, two in Germany, Pennsylvania, Alabama and Texas. In 1982, Ben retired from Pueblo Army Depot at Pueblo, Colo. They relocated to Aurora to be close to family.
Ben touched many hearts, was loved and respected by all of those who met him. His loving eyes and beautiful smile will never be forgotten. His life changed the world and left it a better place. He touched too many hearts to ever be forgotten.
Ben will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 65 beautiful years: Darlene of Aurora, Colo.; his children: Elaine Klug and husband Arnold of Broomfield, Colo., Dave Berges and wife Lorie, Bonny Berges-Tanner and husband Thomas, Becky Baughman and husband Bob and Ben Berges and wife Mary all of Aurora; one brother: Arvard Berges and wife Betty of Julesburg, Colo.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Mabel Boesch and two infants, two brothers: Alfred and Orval and two grandsons: Arnie Klug and Robby Baughman.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 8 in the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel in Sidney with Pastor Judy Gifford officiating. Cremation followed the services and private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel and Cremation Services was in charge of the arrangements.
