Margaret Wid - May 09, 2013


Margaret Wid was born on Nov. 11, 1935 at Paxton, Neb. She was the fifth of six children born to Amos and Mable Reichman Bailey. Margaret grew up in Venango, Neb. where she attended school through the 10th grade before coming to Grant, Neb. and graduating from Perkins County High School in 1953. Margaret attended Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln for one year after high school.
Margaret was married to Elmer Wid on Jan. 22, 1956 in Paxton. They worked on a ranch near Roscoe, Neb. until 1966 when the family moved to Grant. Elmer died in 1994 and Margaret continued to maintain a home in Grant until 2007 when she moved to the North Platte Care Center in North Platte, Neb. Margaret had been in failing health and died early Monday morning, May 6, 2013. She had reached the age of 77.
While living in Grant, Margaret worked as a nurse’s aid at the Perkins County Community Hospital for 32 years before her retirement in 2004. She was also a member of the Grant Zion Lutheran Church and the L.W.M.L. She belonged to the Grant American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Christine; three brothers, Clarke, Junior, and Niel Bailey; two sisters, Donna Mayes and Beverly Nienhueser.
She is survived by one son, Chuck and wife Tammy Wid of rural Elsie, Neb.; four daughters, Lori and husband Dan McPeak of Farnam, Neb., Sherri and husband Bobby Reeder of Redvale, Colo., Lana and husband David Whinery of Grants Pass, Ore., and Maria and husband Chris Johnson of Madrid, Neb.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday May 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grant Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Ron Krause officiating.
Burial will be in the Paxton Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
