Roberta M. Soper - December 07, 2008


Roberta M. Soper, 72, of Big Springs, Neb., passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 in Loveland, Colo., at the Medical Center of the Rockies.
“Bert” was born Aug. 5, 1936 in Bemidji, Minn., to Burton and Mildred (Krough) Cronk.
She and her two sisters and brother grew up in Iowa. Roberta graduated high school in 1955 in Rinsted, Iowa.
Elden Benny Soper and Bertie were united in marriage on Oct, 14. 1956 also in Iowa.
Elden and Roberta moved to Big Springs in 1958 where they raised three children Kevin, Kelly, and Kim. At time of her death she was employed with Bosselman Travel Center in Big Springs, where she has been employed for the last 23 years.
Among her hobbies were several craft projects, including bead work, crocheting, and puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed the company of many friends and family.
Survivors include son, Kelly Soper and wife Melanie of Fallen, Nev.; daughter Kim Lanckriet and husband Fred of Sidney, Neb.; sister Marilyn Anderson of Fairmont, Minn., brother Bill Cronk and wife Pam of Fairmont; sister, Linda Craig and husband Steven of Sioux Falls, S.D., eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elden Soper, son Kevin Soper, an infant son, infant granddaughter, a nephew, a brother-in-law, and her parents.
Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home in Julesburg, Colo., with Pastor Chris Wadle officiating.
Austin-Tennant Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
