Kathrine Regier - September 12, 2013

Kathrine Regier was born in Paxton, Neb. on June 2, 1921, the oldest of five children born to Ben and Clara Fast. She attended elementary school at District 8, located south of Paxton, and went to Sutherland High school.
Kathrine attended the Mennonite Brethren Church, also located south of Paxton, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
Kathrine married Henry Regier on March 28, 1939, and the couple resided north of Madrid, Neb. on the Holdrege Ranch, where they farmed for many years. They had four children, Carolyn, Jack, Randy, and Roxie.
Kathrine spent her life as a farm wife, which included duties of milking cows, cleaning grain bins, raising chickens, and providing many delicious meals for workers and guests.
Kathrine accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a young adult and was a life long member of the Mennonite Brethren Church. She and Henry were deacons in the church for 20 years.
Kathrine loved children and taught Sunday School and helped with AWANA until she was in her 80s. She resided on the farm until she moved to Westview Retirement Community in Grant, Neb. in 2006.
In 2011 she moved to Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant where she passed away on Aug. 28, 2013. She had reached the age of 92.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three siblings, Roy Fast, Alma Vickers, and Ted Fast; a granddaughter-in-law, Judy Harms.
She is survived by those she dearly loved, Carolyn and husband Jerry Harms, Jack and wife Linda Regier, Randy and wife Sylvia Regier, Roxie and husband Dan Hanson, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Aug. 31, 2013 at the Grant E-Free Church with Pastor Russ Gaar officiating.
Burial was in the Madrid Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the AWANA ministries.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
