Scott W. McDaniel - September 19, 2013

Scott W. McDaniel was born in Mesa, Ariz. on Sept. 11, 1956. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon McDaniel of Venango, Neb.; one son, Greg McDaniel and two daughters, Pam and Holly all of Arizona; two stepsons, BJ Dietiker and wife, Tony, of Iowa and James and wife, Cortney, of Colorado. He also had six step-grandchildren, Chance, Dalton, Ty, Devon, Desira and Destany.
Scott was an avid pool player, which was one of his passions and pastime pleasures. He was on a pool league known as the Underpass Destroyers. He helped to take their team to the National Pool League tournament in North Platte in the spring of 2013 where the team won the division championship.
He also had a passion for helping other people. He would do his best to offer to help. Even when some were too shy to ask for help, Scott would stretch out his hand.
Scott enjoyed working on small engines such as lawn mowers and other mechanical devices that needed his attention. There never seemed to be an obstacle that blocked or kept Scott from pursuing his area of interest or giving people a helping hand.
Scott and Sharon were married on Aug. 4, 1998 in Kingman, Kan., then moved to Kentucky to Sharon’s hometown to help take care of her mother. Once Sharon’s mother got back on her feet they then moved to Longmont, Colo., where they both took up employment on a ranch. They were once again called back to Kentucky due to his mother-in-law’s health.
Then in November 1998 they moved to Nebraska. Throughout the last 15 years Scott and Sharon lived many places in Nebraska with Venango the town of choice where they lived until the present.
One of Scott’s greatest passions was for his 1979 motorcycle. When riding his bike Scott could enjoy the freedom that it brought him, just being able to be out on the road with the sun on his face and the wind blowing through his hair.
Scott not only left behind family members who will miss him dearly, he also left behind his beloved-four footed babies, Joker the cat, Gizmo the Chihuahua and his very special Sissy, the misfit puppy, that was very devoted to Scott. Not only did they share birthdays, but they shared an important bond.
Upon his passing Scott was very happy knowing his beloved and devoted wife and loving four-footed babies were by his side.
Scott had been struggling with COPD, emphysema and a weak heart for some time. Upon retiring, he gave a good fight, but lost his battle on Sept. 4, 2013.
Scott is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee McDaniel, and mother, Maridel L. Porter.
As friends and family give a farewell to Scott, they remember the kind and understanding man he was, the one that stretched out his hand to another. A man that would be a friend and take the time to listen without judgment.
He is remembered for enjoying the sound of the last ball rolling in the hole when he finished another winning game of pool and for fighting hard to win his battles with illness.
