Mary Ruth Fowler - September 26, 2013
Mary Ruth Fowler, Age 96, died Sunday morning, Sept. 22, 2013 at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, Neb. She was born Nov. 9, 1916 in Charlottesville, Ind., and graduated from Indiana Central College. She taught high school and middle school vocal music and English in Indianapolis.
Mary Ruth retired in 1979 as assistant dean of girls, Warren Central High School, the same school all three of her boys attended.
She was a member of Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis and was very involved, teaching Christian Living Sunday School Class for 17 years, directed senior adult fellowship for 20 years, and was involved in member visitation.
Because of failing eyesight Mary Ruth made the decision to sell her home in Indianapolis in 2006 and move to Nebraska where her oldest son, David and his wife Gloria, could help provide for her care. In August 2012 her health deteriorated to the point where it was not safe for her to live in their home anymore and she was admitted to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lena Albea; husband, David S. Fowler; sister, Bernice Taylor; and great-granddaughter, Katelyn Rowley.
Survivors include sister, Anna Faye Dawson, Little Rock, Ark.; David and wife Gloria, Ogallala; son, Milton and wife Jan, Randolph, Vt.; son, Wendell and wife Sandy, Indianapolis; granddaughter, Pamela Rowley and husband, Tim in Grant; grandson, Eric in Lincoln, Neb.; step-granddaughter, Traci Draucker and husband Craig in Ogallala; step-grandson, Christopher Einspahr in Houston, Texas; step-grandson, Michael Einspahr and wife Kristina in Kearney, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary Ruth Fowler chose cremation and the family is planning a memorial service at a time and place yet to be determined.
