Robert Nutt - September 26, 2013

Robert Nutt was born southeast of Madrid, Neb. on Nov. 26, 1920. He was the fifth of eight children born to Walter and Mary Reutzel Nutt. He attended district 77 rural school and attended Madrid High School through the 11th grade. He later was awarded a high school degree.
Robert began his farming career in 1938 and farmed until 1945 when he joined the U.S. Army near the end of World War II. He was stationed in Germany in 1945 to 1946 before receiving his honorable discharge. He then returned to the farm. Robert moved to Sutherland, Neb. in 2000 where he lived with his sister Grace. He returned to the farm in 2003.
In 2007 he moved to Centennial Park assisted living in North Platte, Neb. and moved to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, Neb. in 2009 where he died on Friday evening, Sept. 20, 2013. He was 92 years old.
Robert was a life member of the Madrid American Legion and V.F.W. He was a long time member of the Ogallala Elks Club.
Robert was preceded in death by three sisters, Blanche Hilferty, Mae Petersen, and Bessie Harris and one brother, Earl Nutt.
He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy (Arnold) Sexson of Ogallala, Neb. Ethel Brott of Engelwood, Colo. and Grace Godfrey of Elwood, Neb.; many nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Madrid United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Battello officiating.
Burial was in the Madrid Cemetery with a flag presentation by Perkins County Veterans.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
