Karen Glunz - June 14, 2003
Karen Glunz was born on Aug. 1, 1952, in Grant, Neb. She was the youngest of three children born to Roy and Lorena (Johnson) Kennicutt. She grew up on the Kennicutt farm south of Elsie, Neb. and attended school in Elsie until her sophmore year when she attended school in Madrid, Neb. after the consolidation of the two towns formed Wheatland School where she graduated in 1970.
Karen was married to Fred Glunz, Jr. on March 6, 1971, at the Elsie United Methodist Church. Four children were born to this union. They lived on the Glunz farm until 1990 when they moved into Elsie. Fred died in a three-wheeler accident in 1996 and Karen maintained her home in Elsie the rest of her life. Karen dealt with heart health issues the past several years.
At the end of February, she was referred onto the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln where she had surgery and was rehabilitating in Lincoln when she died early Saturday morning, March 1, 2014, at the age of 61.

She also served as a home caregiver for different families in the Elsie area.
Karen enjoyed nature. She appreciated maintaining her garden, flowers and plants. She was an avid reader.
