Rocky Mostek - May 24, 2009

Rocky Mostek was born on Jan. 10, 1962 at Ogallala, Neb. He was the only son born to Jim and Patricia Phillips Jackson. His parents divorced when Rocky was a young boy. He spent a lot of time with his Phillips grandparents while he was growing up. Pat later was married to Dennis Mostek of Grant, Neb. who adopted him.
Rocky grew up and attended school in Grant graduating from Perkins County High School in 1980. He then attended Mid Plains College in North Platte where he received an associates degree in data processing. He moved to Denver where he worked for Pumpco, a company which worked with concrete.
Rocky eventually moved back to Grant where he worked as a computer technician. He also was employed as a bartender for the Ponderosa Lounge in Ogallala andlater worked for John and Darlene Potts at DJ’s in Grant. He was presently employed at the Kwik Stop in Grant where he was serving as an assistant manager.
He had suffered from poor health for a long period and died Sunday night May 24, 2009 at his home in Grant. He had reached the age of 47.
Rocky was preceded in death by his mother, Pat.
He is survived by his father, Dennis, of Grant, other relatives and friends.
His body was cremated. A memorial service was held Monday, June 1 at the Perkins County Senior Center with John Long officiating. Burial of cremains was in the Imperial Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Perkins County Animal Shelter in Grant.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
