Malvin Rosentrater - August 08, 2009Malvin Rosentrater was born on Nov. 13, 1917 north of Elsie, Neb. He was the youngest of four children born to Otto and Minnie Sukraw Rosentrater.
Malvin grew up on the family farm and attended District 23 through the eighth grade. He did not attend high school as his father needed his help on the farm.
Malvin was married to Clarice Stevenson on Oct. 28, 1943 at the First Lutheran Church in North Platte, Neb. They lived on their farm northeast of Elsie their entire married life.
Malvin continued to live at the farm after Clarice died in 2007 until September of 2008 when he moved to the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, Neb. where he died Saturday night, Aug. 8, 2009. He had reached the age of 91.
Malvin was an active member of the Paxton Trinity Lutheran Church and the adult Sunday School class in Paxton, Neb. He had served on the school board of District 41 where his children attended when they were growing up.
In addition to his parents and wife, Malvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and Bill; one sister, Lillian Christensen; one son, Dane and one grandson, Troy Rosentrater.
He is survived by one daughter, Margie and husband Jim Holm of Sutherland; three sons, Don and wife Diane of Ritzville, Wash., Gerald and wife Deb of rural Elsie and Rick; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at the Paxton Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Elwood Hipple officiating.
Burial was in the Paxton Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
