Faith Memorial gets new bookcases

Faith Memorial Library in Wallace has completed their project of getting new bookcases for their library.

In 1993 Faith Memorial Lutheran Church became Faith Memorial Library.

In those beginning years, the Wallace High School Shop built bookcases for the library. Also, librarians Donna Hahn and Lea VanBoening purchased shelving from a closing department store.

When the wear, bowing, and warping from basement flooding became noticeable in 2016, the decision was made to purchase new steel shelving from the many memorials and donations received.

In 2019, Cornhusker Industries helped in the decision of what bookcases were needed for the upstairs altar area.

In November, directors Lea VanBoening, Donna Hahn, and Kathy Fowler began researching the cost to complete the shelving.

Cornhusker Industries measured the remaining shelves needed and suggested wooden shelves to match the altar.

With volunteers’ encouragement to reach out to our Wallace Community Foundation, the Foundation agreed to donate the largest portion of the amount to complete the entire project.
