Plans for a fun-packed fair week  at the end of July are well underway.

The 2023 Perkins County Fair will be held from Monday, July 17 through Saturday, July 22.

“Stars, Stripes and Summer Nights!” is this year’s theme. Adelyn Ornelas, second grader at Perkins County Schools, came up with the theme this year, which she entered into a contest by the fair board and won.

Alongside several 4-H activities, the fair board has arranged a variety of entertainment and vendors for everyone attending.

The week will kick off with the horse show on Sunday, July 16, with the poultry, rabbit/companion animal show and dog show on Monday. All static entries and small animal weigh-ins will be on Tuesday, with the swine, sheep/goat shows on Wednesday. There will also be an animal carcass contest and archery contest on Wednesday.

The annual Chamber breakfast kicks off Thursday at 6 a.m., followed by the beef show. The kid-favorite bounce houses will open at 5 p.m., with Bingo and the FFA Farm Olympics at 6 p.m., followed  by the beloved Bulls & Barrels.

After the livestock sale at 1:30 p.m. on Friday will be more fun and games for the kiddos with bounce houses opening at 3 p.m. and Golf on the Go at 5 p.m. Bingo and the Ranch Rodeo will both begin at 6 p.m.

Saturday’s activities will begin with the parade at 10 a.m., followed by a BBQ lunch and style review then at 12:30 p.m. the 4-H Awards. The mini tractor pull will start at 2:30 p.m., with registration at 2 p.m., this will be followed by the kids’ activities that were featured on Friday night along with Bingo.

The highly anticipated Cooper Allan and Eli Young Bands, starting at 7 p.m., will close out the fair week.

The Perkins County Fair Board has continued improvements on the grounds, collecting sponsorships, and working out the final details for the fair. They are also seeking more food and other vendors to take part during the week.
