At their Monday, June 19 meeting, the Perkins County Commissioners approved a $149,515.00 project to upgrade the security system at the courthouse. Kidwell (Verkada Security Systems) was awarded the contract for the upgrade.

The project for the Courthouse entails the installation of new video surveillance hardware and software, door access control hardware and software, environmental sensor hardware and software, new cabling for all new hardware, system licensing, and installation/setup costs.

According to Sheriff Jim Brueggeman, who will be overseeing the work, the project integrates with the already underway Kidwell (Verkada Alarms) project approved by the County Board in February to install new panic button hardware and software, system licensing and installation/setup for all rooms in the Perkins County Courthouse. The cost for that project will be $16,495.00, he said.

Perkins County is currently working with a project management team at Kidwell to schedule installation and completion dates.

The new Verkada equipment will replace similar existing systems in the Courthouse, which are outdated and no longer serviceable in addition to improving the overall safety and security for visitors and employees of the Perkins County Courthouse, Brueggeman said.
