The decision to move last week’s Dundy County Stratton Invite from Tuesday to Thursday was  a good one for everyone involved and especially for Wallace’s golfers Matt Lungrin and Riley Strawder who were at their first ever tournament.

“It was a great decision to switch days. The day was cool but much better than Tuesday would have been,” Wallace Head Coach Rich Lee said.

Lungrin placed 12th, only two strokes out of a top 10 finish. Lee said one hole tripped Lungrin up both times through the course.

“Once the nerves went away he was able to settle down and play,” Lee added.

Like Lungrin, the nerve bug bit Strawder as well, Lee continued, and he finished out of the running for a medal.

Lee said both golfers said the invite was a lot of fun, a lot different than what they expected.

After an Easter break the Wildcats will get back to practice and work on things that they didn’t do well at DCS.

“Our goal is to keep improving as the season goes along. Overall a good experience (at DCS) for the boys,” Lee said.

The Wildcats will be at the Medicine Valley Invite at Curtis Thursday.

The Paxton Invite has been rescheduled from March 28 to April 24.
