The Perkins County Plainsmen golfers came away with the top position at their own invitational last Tuesday, April 18 with a score 328, with sophomore Zaybreon Hansen taking the top individual honors with a score of 70.

Head Coach Kelly Smith was excited for the team’s win at home.

“The PC meet went really well overall against some good competition,” Smith said. “You always want to win at home and the team stepped up to shoot their season best.”

Smith said the wind was tough on the back 9 during the day, but the said the team battled through for the win.

Smith again praised Hansen for his performance, and also gave credit to Storm Peterson, Jet Peterson, Will Long, and Eric Gonzalez who played “really well,” he said.

“The short game is getting sharp, and just in time for SPVA,” he said.

PCS will take part in the SPVA tournament at home on Pheasant Run this Thursday, April 27, starting at 10 a.m. The meet had originally been set on Friday, April 28, but was moved because of the potential inclement weather.
