A beautiful day met the seven teams that took part in the SPVA golf meet last Thursday on the Pheasant Run course north of Grant.

Medaling for the Plainsmen during the day was Zaybreon Hansen, coming in first with a 73 and Will Long in the 10th position with a score of 91. Scores of the other members of the Plainsmen team were as follows: Storm Peterson, 94; Jet Peterson and Eli Busick, both 99.

Coming in second for the day was Gavin Wisnieski of Chase County with a score of 85, and Ryker Copeland of Sutherland and Aiden George of Hershey, tying for third place in 86.

For team standings, it was Hershey in the top position with a combined score of 356, just edging out Perkins County, which came in second with a score of 357. Coming in third was Sutherland with a team score of 368.

Plainsmen Head Coach Kelly Smith said he thought the day went pretty well.

“The team didn’t quite meet their goal, but that happens,” he said.

Despite some set back, Smith said he is proud of how the team responded.

“I think this (meet) will motivate them in the next few invites,” he said.
