As the end of basketball season draws near, thus will complete Shawn Cole’s 10th year as Perkins County’s boys basketball head coach.

A memorial in the name of Jack Barry was presented to the Grant Volunteer Fire Department by Barry’s family at a business meeting on Feb. 5.

The Grant Lions Club held their annual pancake feed on Thursday, Feb. 9. Chairman Trent Patrick said around 250 were served with $2,300-2,400 raised and donations still coming in.

Junior Beau Wood returned home from the NSAA State Wrestling Championships with the Class D bronze medal in the 182-pound class for the second consecutive year.

In the first round of sub-districts, the Lady Plainsmen traveled to Hershey to play the North Platte Lady Irish on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

A former student opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle at a Florida high school on Wednesday, Feb.

The February senior of the month honor has been awarded to Karen Ruiz.

Ruiz is the daughter of Aldo and Marley Ruiz.

Perkins County competed against 23 other Class A, B and C1 schools at the speech invitational in Ogallala on Feb. 17.
